About this treatment

What are check-ups & exams?

Regular dental check-ups let our dentists spot and treat problems early — from decay to gum disease and oral-health concerns. Most adults are seen every 6–12 months.

Check-ups & Exams at our practice

Regular check-ups are the simplest way to keep your teeth and gums healthy, and to catch small problems before they turn into bigger, costlier ones. At South Elmsall Family Dental Centre, on Barnsley Road in the town centre, your dentist will examine your teeth, gums and soft tissues, check for early signs of decay or gum disease, and take X-rays if they’re needed. A routine examination like this comes under NHS Band 1 (£27.90).

Most adults are seen every six to twelve months, depending on how healthy your mouth is — your dentist will suggest an interval that’s right for you. Keeping to it matters all the more locally, given how stretched NHS dental appointments have been right across the Wakefield district.

We’re currently welcoming new NHS and private patients from South Elmsall, South Kirkby, Moorthorpe and the surrounding villages. Call 01977 645002 or use our contact form to book your first check-up.
