Questions and answers
Are you taking on new NHS patients in South Elmsall?
Yes — we're currently registering new NHS and private patients from South Elmsall and the surrounding villages. NHS availability can change from month to month, so it's worth getting in touch sooner rather than later. Call 01977 645002 or use our contact form to register.
Whereabouts is the practice, and how do I get there?
We're at 51 Barnsley Road, South Elmsall WF9 2SA, on the main road through the town centre near the market. South Elmsall station sits on the Wakefield Line with Northern trains from Leeds, Wakefield and Doncaster, and the bus station beside it links the nearby villages. You can plan a journey at wymetro.com.
Is there parking near the practice?
There's parking around the town centre, market and high street, though it's sensible to check any local restrictions before you leave the car. Frequent buses and both South Elmsall and Moorthorpe stations also make it easy to reach us without driving.
How much does NHS dental treatment cost?
NHS charges in England (2026) fall into three bands. Band 1 (£27.90) covers an examination, diagnosis and advice, including any X-rays and a scale and polish if needed. Band 2 (£76.60) covers fillings, extractions and root canal treatment. Band 3 (£332.10) covers crowns, dentures and bridges. Some patients are exempt from charges.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your dentist will take a full history, examine your teeth, gums and soft tissues, and take any X-rays that are needed. You'll get a clear explanation of anything they find, along with an agreed plan and costs, before any treatment begins.
I'm nervous about the dentist — can you help?
You're far from alone, and we look after a lot of anxious patients. Let us know when you get in touch and we'll allow extra time, talk you through each step and never rush you. Easing back into regular check-ups usually makes future visits much easier.
Which areas do you cover?
We're a local practice for South Elmsall, and we welcome patients from South Kirkby, Moorthorpe, Upton, Hemsworth, Badsworth and Fitzwilliam, as well as the wider Wakefield district.
Do you offer private treatments such as teeth whitening or Invisalign?
Yes. Alongside NHS care we offer private options including professional teeth whitening, Invisalign clear aligners and dental implant consultations. Call 01977 645002 and we'll talk through what might suit you.
